PNG to WebP
Convert PNG images to WebP to cut page weight while keeping transparency — the format modern sites use for logos, icons, and product shots.
Runs entirely in your browser. Your files never leave your device.
The web format that keeps your alpha channel
WebP was built to replace both JPG and PNG on the web, and unlike JPG it supports a full alpha channel. That combination is what makes this conversion useful: a logo, an icon, or a product cutout can drop to a fraction of its PNG size and still sit cleanly on any background colour. For photographic PNGs the saving is dramatic, frequently ninety percent or more, and even for flat graphics it is usually worth twenty to thirty percent.
Support is no longer a reason to hesitate. Every current browser renders WebP, including Safari since version 14, and search engines index the images normally. The remaining friction is all outside the browser: some desktop editors, older office suites, and upload forms with extension whitelists still reject the format. Keep the PNG as your working copy and treat the WebP as the file you ship to the web.
How to convert PNG to WebP
- 1
Add the PNG files
Drop in up to 20. This is the conversion to run over an entire folder of site assets at once.
- 2
Set the WebP quality
WebP keeps the alpha channel, so transparent PNGs stay transparent. At quality 80 most PNGs drop by well over half with no visible change.
- 3
Download the WebP
Every browser released in the last several years reads WebP. Swapping PNG assets for WebP is one of the cheapest page-weight wins available on an image-heavy site.
